Today is the official kickoff of our first Lymahatchie! We met at the church, went over the rules for the week and were off to see our worksite for the week. Ms. Watson's home is in need of some serious repairs and we are surely up for the task.
Then, it was off to the Carlisle's for some swimming and eating! We had two great grill masters - who can cook some serious hamburgers / cheeseburgers and hotdogs (without making the black on the outside)! We also had some wonderful homemade chilli and baked beans - courtesy of Ms. Jerry - and some very good homemade peanut brittle - thank you Ms. Judith! :)
The youth had fun swimming and fishing in the lake. They also had fun just sitting around and relaxing in the hammock. I hope they got their fill of relaxation - because it is off to work first thing in the morning!
Until tommorrow - Good Night

Lymahatchie 2009
Hey everyone! This was our 2nd Lymahatchie and I am pleased to tell you that everything went smoothly and all the kids did a great job of doing their part of the work and getting everything completed on time. The youth did so well that we were actually finished the houses ahead of schedule!
The two houses we worked needed our help, whether it was physically attention or spiritual encouragement. The Roofas worked on Mrs. Rhonda's roof while a few handy men in the church worked on her bathroom floor that was about to fall through!
The other house belongs to Sandy and Wayne, who really needed a handicap ramp on the steps to make it easier to Wayne to get out of the house. Both the porches were pressure washed and repainted, the house was also pressure washed. The roof of the house was covered in cool seel so that there would not be any leaks. We also laid sod between the stones we laid down to work as a path so Wayne's chair could more easily glide across his yard. We laid mulch down around the big front island in front of the house and the flower beds up against the house. It took several loads of mulch to cover everything but that wasn't a problem for our youth group.
Thanks to all of those who helped us out by supplying lunches and dinners and coming on the two different sites to give the youth a helping hand. Thanks also to the SNACK WAGON folks who came by in the hot afternoons to replenish the energy of out hard working youth and other members of the church who were there to help.
I would also like to thank Shawn Harter and Kimbo Bridges for leading the youth and guiding them to do what needed to be done. We would also like to thank Mrs. Rhonda and Sandy and Wayne for letting us work on their homes for them. And last but certainly not least I would like to thank God for working His powers and leading us to the ones who needed us the most this year during Lymahatchie!
Good job LUMC Youth! Job well done. I can't wait to see what God has in store for us to do next year!
Go Jesus!
Jeno :)
